New Englanders love experiencing all four seasons, but when it comes to the heat of summer, most of them prefer to keep that heat outside – especially on those days where fans and open windows just aren’t cutting it. For those of us with whole house or window air conditioners, if we aren’t careful our electric bills can go sky high while we try to “keep our cool”. So what is the cost-conscious New Englander to do?
Installation
When it comes to central air conditioning systems, there are 2 directions our staff can go in: whole house AC systems or mini-split ductless heat pumps. And yes, that last one is technically called a “heat pump”, but trust us when we tell you it will keep you very cool.
Maintenance
The most important thing you can do to ensure you get the most of your existing AC system is to have it serviced once a year. And the best time to do this is before the hot weather arrives.
Repair
All AC systems will eventually begin to fail, especially if you haven’t been keeping up on your system’s annual maintenance. But just because the system isn’t working the way you expect it to doesn’t mean that your whole system needs to be replaced. It may be as simple as replacing a few parts.

We had Live Free Heating Cooling Electric install central AC in our home during the summer of 2021. They installed a Mitsubishi mini split for our main floor along with a ducted system for our 2nd floor and the condenser outside to run both systems.
