Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have emergency hours?
Yes. Because we know your heating system, AC system, and hot water heater doesn’t fail based on our hours, we do offer emergency HVAC service in New Hampshire. There is an additional dispatch fee on top of our normal fee for service, but we’ll inform you of it when speaking to you so it won’t be a surprise after we’ve completed the work. So if you need us, any time outside of our normal business hours, just give us a call at (603) 270-9182.
I want a company I can trust. Are you licensed & insured?

After all the stories we’ve heard from customers who didn’t initially go that route, we can understand why you’d be concerned. We’ve heard countless stories of how people found a local guy on the web through social media or other community-based sites like Craig’s List who offered them a tremendous deal, only to discover later that the work they had done wasn’t sufficient. And because we take your safety and satisfaction seriously, we maintain our license and are fully insured. So when you hire us to do the work for you, you can rest assured it will get fixed right and for a reasonable price.

There is a strange smell when I turn on my heat. Should I be worried?
Any time you notice a strange smell when you turn on an appliance, you should be concerned – especially when it is your New Hampshire heating system. You could have a gas leak. The heat exchanger could be running too hot. Or the system pressure could even be off. So as soon as you notice that smell, don’t hesitate. Give us a call at (603) 270-9182 to schedule immediate service.
Do I really need to get my duct work cleaned?
Absolutely! Every 7 years you should have your duct worked cleaned by a professional. Why? Not only can allergens and bacteria take over the system and get spread throughout your home, but the dust and dirt that naturally collects in there over time eventually fines its way to the coils and filters in your heating and cooling system. And when that happens, your system can’t run efficiently which means you’ll end up spending more money to keep your home at a comfortable temperature.
What's the difference between a furnace and a boiler?
A furnace is a forced hot-air system, and requires duct work throughout your home. A boiler is a forced hot-water system and requires radiators or baseboards to be installed throughout your home. Both can be fueled by natural gas, propane or oil.
I need to replace my existing heating system. Should I switch from oil to gas?
We get asked this question a lot. There are pros and cons to each option. With an oil system, there is more maintenance involved as there are more parts involved in a oil-based system. With a gas system, there is less maintenance as there are fewer parts to the system and gas burns cleaner than oil. But these aren’t the only factors to take into consideration when deciding if you should convert from oil to gas. Schedule a free, no-obligation consultation with our staff to get all the facts you need in order to make the best decision for your home.
My hot water heater let go! What should I do until you get here?
First things first; we have to stop the water from flooding your basement. As soon as you realize your hot water heater let go, call us immediately at (603) 270-9182 so we can lead you through the process of shutting off your cold inlet ball valve. After the water has stopped flowing, if there is less than 2″ of standing water in your basement, our techs are able to come out and get your new water heater installed. If, however, you have more than 2″ of standing water, you’ll first need to drain the space so that it is safe enough for our techs to get in there and do their work
My AC condenser unit stopped working and can't be repaired. Should I go with a mini-split ductless system or replace the existing system with more of the same?
We always recommend that if you have the duct work already installed for your HVAC system that you use what you already have. When we come out for a consultation, our skilled technicians will get the whole story about your system – how old it is, had you kept up with regular maintenance, even when it was new was it working to your satisfaction, etc. Based on your answers, you may discover that the unit you had was insufficient for your home so another unit would be best. Or it may be as simple as installing a newer version of your existing unit. Either way, our focus is going to be on capitalizing on the infrastructure you already have in place while providing your home with the comfortable temperature you crave.
What is a mini-ductless heat pump and why would I want one?
If you don’t already have duct work installed in your home, a mini-ductless heat pump is the way to go! It is the most efficient heating & cooling system you can have without duct work which means it will save you money. Plus, you have more control over the temperature in your home. In the winter, get your bedroom toasty, but the dining room you hardly use can be set a little cooler. In the summer, get your bedroom nice and chill so that you can sleep whereas keeping the basement cooler just isn’t a requirement.
Do you take away my old equipment?
If you’ve hired us to install a new system in your home, we absolutely take the old equipment away. It’s part of our installation service.
What forms of payment do you accept?
At the time of service, we accept cash, checks, and major credit cards including AMEX, Discover, MasterCard and Visa.
