Water Heaters in New Hampshire with Live Free Heating Cooling Electric

More than likely, you don’t know a lot about water heaters. But that’s what we’re here for! This page is meant to familiarize you with some of the basic facts about water heaters for your NH home.

For instance, did you know that water heaters use as much as 25% of the energy in your New Hampshire home? That is a higher percentage of energy than almost all the other appliances in the household. In fact, it is more than a dishwasher, refrigerator, washer, and dryer – COMBINED!

Every home has a water heater. A water heater has two purposes. First, it takes incoming cold water and stores it for later use. Second, as its name implies, it heats water for use as needed.  All water heaters require maintenance, and all water heaters will eventually fail. In order to improve the lifespan of your water heating appliance, it is recommended to have a qualified, competent technician perform routine maintenance on your system.  Live Free Heating Cooling Electric has you covered when it comes to water heaters, our team is ready to educate you and assist with any service you need. Water heater services we offer include:

  • Water Heater Maintenance
  • Water Heater Installation
  • Water Heater Repair

Traditional Water Heaters

When you are choosing a traditional hot water tank for your home in NH there are many sizes to choose from. These can range from 40-gallon hot water storage tanks to large hot water tanks that are over 100 gallons. These tanks can have a variety of fuel sources including natural gas, LP, heating oil, or electricity.

Hybrid Water Heaters aka Heat Pump Water Heater

When you use a hybrid water heater, you are utilizing both a heat pump and also electric coils. Both of these systems are used to heat the water in your home. Additionally, hybrid heat pump water heaters can be used in multiple modes. They can run in heat pump mode only, electric mode only, or both at the same time. When the hybrid heat pump water heater is in hybrid mode, it will cycle between the heat pump coils and electric coils. Also, it is important to know that hybrid heat pumps need more room than regular water heaters for the air to circulate around them.

You need a decent amount of surrounding air for a heat pump to work correctly.  A heat pump works by removing the air for the surrounding ambient air. Most heat pump manufacturers recommend an area with at least 750 ft3.

Tankless Water Heaters

A tankless water heater or an on-demand water heater, as it is also known. works in a very energy efficient way. The tankless water heater uses high-powered burners to heat the water quickly. The distinguishing feature of tankless water heaters is that they only heat up water when you need it. This feature will save you a lot of money on energy because the water heater does not have to store water and continually heat it. Tankless water heaters are also smaller and take up less space in the home due to not having to store all the water. Imagine taking a shower that never ran out of hot water. That is exactly what a tankless water heater can do for you. However, with this type of water heater it can take a little longer for the hot water to reach you depending on your piping. But once the hot water is on tap, then you are all set and you will have an endless supply of hot water.
